Prague Spring Heading to the World

The Prague Spring is a festival of classical music with the longest tradition in the Czech Republic and is also one of the festivals with the longest history in the world. This year, the Prague Spring celebrates its 75th anniversary. On the Czech music scene, it still has no comparison in terms of the number of concerts. From 18 May 2020, the network of Czech centers will offer the significant online music festival to the world.

Together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, the Czech Centers have become a partner of the festival for this year. During the Prague Spring, the entire network of Czech centers will present and share the festival program, including individual performances and concerts, to foreign spectators through its website and social networks.

Eleven concerts will be broadcast live from the stages of five Prague concert halls and one Brno concert hall. The joint opening concert of the Czech Centers network will be performed by Collegia 1704 and Collegia Vocale 1704 under the direction of Václav Luks from the Prague Crossroads on Monday, May 18 at 8:00 p.m. (CET) There will be a program including compositions by J. S. Bach, J. D. Zelenka, G. F. Händel.

special video interview of Ondřej Černý with the festival director Roman Bělor was created for the presentation of this year's online year of the festival. Viewers will learn what it means for the directors of the Prague Spring to (not) cancel live concerts and move them into cyberspace, how they personally perceive the current situation, or what a partnership with Czech centers means to him.
